How can an Educator Implement Civic Mirror into their Classroom?Civic Mirror is an online digital simulation that can be used to implement a digital life for students but in a safe and fun setting. The Civic Mirror program would "fit" very nicely into any Social Studies 10, 11, Civics 11 or any other Social Studies course that has an emphasis on civics and government.
Civic Mirror was designed and inspired by a Surrey School District #36 teacher, Reagan Ross, and several other friends. It is loosely based upon a very popular board game -- Settlers of Catan. To being with the simulation and training, an educator would need to log into the homepage and create an account. A good starting point would be to request a free trial to learn the 8 pre-game events and 6 in-game season events with the developers. |
Creating a Country License & ManualsCivic Mirror takes each of your students as a digital person who has a digital 9 person family. Once the educator, or administrator, has created their own account you will need to make a licence for each class that an educator wants to use. Typically each license can accommodate a class up to 40 students.
Unless you are a Surrey School District Teacher each licence costs about $40 Canadian. In addition there is a 140 page Teacher Manual and there is a 40 page student manual. |
Webinar Training SessionsCivic Mirror has an excellent training options. The creators of Civic Mirror offer both online as well as face to face training. To be successful in implementing Civic Mirror into the classroom it is highly advisable that the teacher would play through a complete pre-game events and one full year four season events.
