About the Authors
Cole Anderson has been teaching Social Studies in the Surrey School District #36 and Lord Tweedsmiur Secondary for the past nine years. He has an Bachelor of Music Education from the University of British Columbia. ETEC 532 is his fourth MET UBC course. He has been using games such as Civic Mirror and Civilization in his courses for the past six years and has published resources for this practice that can be found on the Edmodo Spotlight homepage.

Gordon Chiu is a Technology Integration Specialist at Pickering College in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. This is his first year in the MET program at UBC. His hobbies include digital photography and videography, music (vocals, guitar, drums, etc.), building computers, gaming, snowboarding, golf, tennis, and cooking.

Stephanie Ives is a Prairie transplant, born and raised in Ontario but living and teaching in Rural Saskatchewan for the past four years. I graduated from the Brock University Concurrent Education program with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with a major in history and a Bachelor of Education with a second teachable in mathematics. I love to coach, explore the outdoors, and cook. I am currently completing the Master of Educational Technology program through the University of British Columbia.

Mary Sikkes is a public school teacher in British Columbia, Canada who has worked at both secondary and elementary levels. She taught in learner support classrooms and in secondary English for eight years before moving to elementary. She is currently teaching in a grade 4/5 classroom. This is her first year of the MET program at UBC and her approach to and understanding of implementing technology effectively in the classroom has changed significantly. She looks forward to applying the knowledge she is gaining in future classrooms.

Janelle Therien
Janelle is trained in elementary education, however, now finds herself teaching adult students at NorQuest College in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Educational Technology program at the University of British Columbia. You can view Janelle's teaching dossier, though in need of updates, here. Through the development of this project, she has come to see gaming in the classroom through a different lens, and has inspired those around her to dive in! Janelle looks forward to exploring ways to integrate gaming into the world of adult education, giving adult learners all of the benefits afforded to primary and secondary students through these methods. |
